How do you use up all of a Visa gift card online? @ 03:26 am

On my birthday, the folks I work with gave me a $70 online Visa gift card. Very nice of them. I've spent most of it, and I had $23.38 left -- until the card company took off a $5.95 monthly service fee! Bastards...

So now, I want to spend it before I loose any more money. But what can I buy online that costs as close as possible (without going over) to $17.43? I tried to buy this t-shirt, but with postage it comes to $18.94.  I could always buy something on Amazon, but I really don't want to pay $5 postage on a $12 item.

So, does anyone know of an on-line retailer that lets you split your payment between two cards, so I could buy something that cost $20 or so, and pay $17.43 on the gift card and pay the balance on another card?  Or does anyone have a suggestion for a $17 item (including postage)?

As a familiar putrid stench settled over Imperial Avenue one day last summer, making the block near East 123rd Street practically unbearable, one of Anthony Sowell's neighbors turned to him in disgust....

Three month old Fallow Deer fawn. Three month old Fallow Deer fawn.

Here's a three month old fawn sniffing around in a patch of wildflowers not far from the front porch of my place in Texas. It's always amusing to watch the newest members of the herd continuously explore their environment, seeming to find something new almost every day. On this occasion, the does and their babies were moving around in a patch of tall wildflowers (weeds?) on the lot by my house. The scent of the blossoms must have interested young and old alike. They were constantly sniffing flowers all around the enclosure. As slow as the deer can be when they're having a good time meandering through the flower patch, they were still difficult to catch actually sniffing a blossom. I have tons of "near misses", pix where the snap of the shutter was a bit too early, or a fraction of a second too late. Like horses that will turn their hind end toward a person with a camera, these deer seemed to know just when to duck their head, or move away, spoiling a good photo. Getting an occasional good pic more than makes up for the difficulty involved. Just being around them is pleasure enough. Getting neat pix is a bonus.

Fairly drama free, but hideously drunk. The studenty strategy of just buying a cheap bottle of wine at the pub and drinking that? Oh man. The boys, being chivalrous, wanted me to take a taxi. I did not want a taxi! Oh golly. I lost my headphone adapter. Drunk, drunk, drunk. I took some pictures, not of me for a change. I will show you them later. For now, I am drunk. I am fine though. Fine fine fine... Golly.

sick and crap @ 04:31 pm

[info]punkpixiecat:
its friday and I'm feeling progressively more and more sickly. Started with a stuffed sinus, but now I ache and am freezing but I don't think I have a fever. This really sucks because I've been such a grump this week and really was looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend. if i'm sick it won't be relaxing, it'll be depressing.
To top off the grumpy grumpness, my boss just texted me to complain about dog crap. I clean up my dogs crap whenever it is physically possible for me to pick it up. Apparently I'm the only one who does because the tenants and gardeners are complaing and yeah. not good. So I get to pick up tons of dog crap this weekend too. YAY for being a responsible pet owner.
